Véronic DiCaire
Véronic DiCaire was born in Embrun, a small French-speaking town in Ontario. Hers is a musical family, and she, surrounded by happiness, green spaces and the simple things in life, started to sing as soon as she could hold "a yellow Fisher-Price microphone" in her hands.
Véronic’s career started early and was marked by such highlights as singing in the grade-school choir, performing at high-school shows, a few television appearances on Radio-Canada and the formation of her band, Sens Unique. Véronic would go on to pick up an award at the Ontario Pop competition in the category of best performer. Her dream was coming true. She has also travelled to Egypt and Bosnia to sing for the Armed Forces.
In 1998, Véronic arrived in Montreal with the firm intention of cutting her first record. Before long the theatre called and she was appearing in the musical Grease as well as the Five Women Show. The Games of La Francophonie proved to be a turning point for Véronic by giving her an opportunity to sing in front of a large audience, something she would eventually make a career of.
In April 2003, Véronic was selected to play the very prestigious role of Roxie Hart in the very first French production of Chicago - The Musical. Performing with Anthony Kavanagh as Billy Flynn (in Montreal) and Stéphane Rousseau (in Paris), Véronic played, sang and danced in over 225 performances. If you consider the fact that Véronic was the « voice » of Renée Zellweger in the French adaptation of Chicago – The Movie, it is fair to say that Chicago as a whole represents another highlight in Véronic‘s résumé.
Three years after launching her debut album, Véronic released « Sans détour » - her second album produced this time by Éloi Painchaud – formerly a member of the very well known group Okoumé. given me." After touring most of our country’s provinces with her band, stopping in more than 60 cities from Winnipeg to New-Brunswick, Véronic is currently working on her third album, due in stores by the end of this summer.
