Tests
Women tend to ignore their risk of heart disease
and stroke, and do not seek medical attention as quickly as they
should. They are often busy taking care of others, and put their own
health last.
As a woman, the most important things you can do
to safeguard your health are to know your risk profile, be able to
recognize the warning signs of heart disease
and stroke, and make the time to schedule any tests your doctor may
recommend.
HEART DISEASE TESTS
If
you are experiencing some of the symptoms of heart disease, or if you
have a higher risk factor, your doctor may recommend a number of tests
that will help him or her to diagnose your health and recommend
treatment.
You can find a list of the different types of tests
for heart disease,
and information on how each test is performed, on the Heart and Stroke
Foundation website.
STROKE TESTS
If you have symptoms that could
be stroke-related, or if you have risk factors for stroke, your doctor
may want to conduct a number of tests. These tests will determine
whether you have had a stroke, and if you have, what type of stroke has
occurred and what parts of your brain have been affected.
The
Heart and Stroke Foundation website offers comprehensive list of the
different types of tests for stroke and information on how each test is performed.
