Donna Smith

Donna is co-chair of the Health Association of African Canadians, a non- profit health association based in Halifax with a mandate to promote the health and well being of African Canadians living in Nova Scotia.
Previous community volunteer work includes her role as Past President of the Junior League of Halifax, Nova Scotia Home for Coloured Children and the Epilepsy Association of Nova Scotia. In March 2006, she received the Leadership award from the Atlantic Centre of Excellence for Women’s Health.
Donna has worked with Cancer Care Nova Scotia as the Diverse Communities Cancer Coordinator for the past seven years. In this position she works closely with the Patient Navigators in Nova Scotia to ensure members of Nova Scotia’s diverse communities are aware of the importance of cancer prevention, screening and what services are available to them in their health district.
